The mission of the Shasta Technology Association is to provide an active forum for the development of technologists, entrepreneurs, and professionals, encouraging the growth of advanced technology firms in the Shasta County area through advocacy, professional networking and education.

STA Objectives

1. Promote business networking with other business professionals in the city of Redding and Shasta county.

2. Encourage best practices for business development and use of technology for local businesses.

3. Be a key advocate in support of key strategic technology planning and key technology initiatives to encourage business growth for Redding and Shasta county.

4. Build awareness of and leverage of local technological/business expertise.


September 24, 2010 Brown Bag: Job Internship Programs

Student Job Internship Program at Simpson College
Presented by Gary Schmidt, Chair the Business Department at Simpson. This is an ongoing program available to qualified students, typically at junior or senior level. It provides for students to gain real time job experience while making a genuine contribution to the operations of a business entity. Doing work that tracks to their area of academic focus, these opportunities can be paid or unpaid positions and result in grade credit when successfully completed with approved sign off. These internships have turned out to be real win-win situations for all involved. May 28th Brown Bag is about City Response To Google

Greg Clark is an assistant to the Redding City Manager. He coordinated and ultimately submitted Redding’s response to the Google RFI through their web site (the only way they would accept it.) It was about 13 pages of actual questions that ranged from City demographics and broadband usage to technical issues like miles of conduit and cost for pole connections. There also were a couple of "essay questions" allowing us to expound on why we thought our City would be a good choice.

Dan Morrow from Optest will be speaking at our September 25th brown bag lunch. Dan's subject will be "3 Big Ideas For Improving Profit?"

Dan is currently the CEO/President of Op-Test. In this capacity, he oversees the design and manufacture of automated test equipment hardware and software for the semiconductor industry. He co-founded Op-Test in 2000 in response to the exploding need for device testing by semiconductor manufacturers and engineers.
